Solar Photovoltaic Rooftop Power Plant, India

Planning, commissioning, and operation of a solar photovoltaic rooftop power plant at the Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi

STEAG Energy Services India (SESI) has signed a power purchase agreement with the Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi to set up a solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant utilizing the rooftop spaces available on four of their buildings. Under the agreement, SESI has built and nowadays owns and operates a 300 kW power plant and sells the power to the hospital for 20 years. By deciding to go green with regard to its power requirements, the hospital aims to offset a part of its dependence on the utility grid. The power plant will cover an area of 4,000m2 and consists of around 1,000 PV modules providing a peak output of 300 kW of clean energy. The plant is expected to have an annual production of around 500,000 kWh. The major component suppliers for the plant are ReneSola and Delta. SESI has carried out the installation and commissioning using internal resources to gain valuable experience in such projects in view of the major opportunities expected in the solar PV sector. The environmentally friendly PV plant saves around 300 tons of CO2 annually.
